Dan Winckler is an artist working in film and video and the founder of Really Useful Media.

At Really Useful Media, Dan directs documentary and promotional films, multi-camera and livestreaming event productions, and designs projections and interactive video for both live performance and installation. He is responsible for cinematography, editing, and post-production on all projects as well as supervision and direction of production staff. He is also experienced in training and technical consulting to build organizations’ digital capacity and improve media management and workflow.

He has designed projections for performance at MoMA PS1, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, Eyebeam, the Tank, { R } a k e, EyeWash, the Austin Museum of Digital Art, the MenschMeerMedien Festival 2007 in Bremen, Germany, and the International Symposium of Electronic Art in 2006. He is also a contributing developer of Open Emu, an open source, multi-game emulator and toolset for “virtual console bending”, i.e., live manipulation and deconstruction of old school game consoles including the NES, Sega, and Game Boy.
