Last night I attended the Stonewall Chorale’s concert, Northern Lights: Music From Above the 49th Parallel. Who knew that all of Stonewall Jackson’s great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren could sing so well? Or that they were all gay? They sang beautiful music; Bora’s solo on Bjork’s Vokuro was my personal favorite. Afterwards at Penang (a Malaysian grotto on the Upper West Side?) I met a couple of Bora’s friends — good people, a violinist and a bassist. Sean and I got into a really fascinating discussion about the direction of America, the economy, technological change, apathy, the multitude of Have Nots, the coming explosion of the internet with low-cost computers, the Matrix (of course), Baudrillard and more. Hopefully they’ll both come play at Share sometime (check out the new version of the website — it’s awesome) — I’d love to hear more string players in the jam.
Today I’m singing with the Street Singers in Ascension Church. After that it’s back to my term paper. Me am string words together most precipitously. Ibid.
